The Das-Mathur-Okubo sum rule for the charged pion polarizability in a chiral model
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Das-Mathur-Okubo (DMO) sum rule for the polarizability of charged pions is evaluated for the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model Lagrangian in both its minimal and extended forms. A comparison is made with the results obtained using the same sum rule from chiral perturbation theory (χPT), approximate QCD sum rule calculations, explicit calculations on the lattice by Wilcox, and using the semi-empirical Kapusta-Shuryak spectral densities. The χPT results from Compton scattering are also given. We point to a delicate cancellation between the intrinsic and recoil contributions to απ± in the DMO sum rule approach that can lead to calculated polarizabilities of either sign. Charged Pion Polarizability From the Lattice
Direct evaluation of charged particle polarizabilities on the lattice is quite difficult. However, a short cut for charged pion polarizability the Das, Mathur, Okubo Sum Rule can readily be calculated using lattice techniques. A phenomenological model has been developed to fit the time behavior of the propagators in this expression. Numerical systematics are discussed and some preliminary resul...

An evaluation of charged pion polarizability using correlation functions measured on a 16 3 × 24 lattice in the context of the Das, Mathur, Okubo (DMO) sum rule is carried out. The calculation is limited to the so-called intrinsic part of the polarizability. This contribution, equivalent to a Eu-clidean time integral over vector and axial vector momentum-differentiated propagators, is evaluated...
متن کاملChiral Sum Rules and Duality in QCD
The ALEPH data on the vector and axial-vector spectral functions, extracted from tau-lepton decays, is used in order to test local and global duality, as well as a set of four QCD chiral sum rules. These are the Das-Mathur-Okubo sum rule, the first and second Weinberg sum rules, and a relation for the electromagnetic pion mass difference. We find these sum rules to be poorly saturated, even whe...

The validity of Weinberg’s two sum rules for massless QCD, as well as the six additional sum rules introduced into chiral perturbation theory by Gasser and Leutwyler, are investigated for the extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio chiral model that includes vector and axial vector degrees of freedom. A detailed analysis of the vector, axial vector and coupled pion plus longitudinal axial vector modes is g...

The electromagnetic dipole and quadrupole polarizabilities of the neutral and charged pions are calculated in the Nambu–Jona-Lasinio model. Our results agree with the recent experimental analysis of these quantities based on Dispersion Sum Rules. Comparison is made with the results from the Chiral Perturbation Theory.
